Sam Carter

Since being named Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Sam has been stirring audiences from Camden to Canada. In a specially assembled band he has backed Richard Thompson at Shrewsbury Folk Festival and has been described by Jon Boden as ‘the finest English-style finger-picking guitarist of his generation’, and has been similarly praised by Mike Harding. Sam is now a fervently admired singer, songwriter and guitarist who released his third solo album ‘How the City Sings’ in 2016. He joined Eliza Carthy to play at Coventry in 2018, performed at  Sidmouth Folk Week and will be playing at the Ely Folk Festival this July.
