Red Lion Folk Club

Wednesday January 8th

Named after a less–than-salubrious 19th-century music-hall in Marylebone, London,—itself named after a Greek word apparently meaning ‘the world is a stage’—from 1972 to 1999 Dave and Al Sealey performed the songs of the Halls and became considered by many to be the finest interpreters of the genre. Their roots, however, remained in the world of the people’s entertainment: the upstairs room at the pub, the folk festival, the village hall. Al sadly died in 1999 but Dave continued with other collaborators and is now accompanied by his son Dan with pianist Adam Barry  and they continue to create ’a lot of old songs, with a new twist’.
