Red Lion Folk Club

Wednesday November 6th

Nancy Kerr & James Fagan

This lovely couple have been friends of ours and the club ever since we took over as organisers. James is from Australia and his sister Kate and other members of the Fagan  family have visited us many times in the past. Nancy is the daughter of Sandra Kerr (?remember Bagpuss) and together they have developed a style entirely their own and write much of their own music (?remember James’ captivating song about the convicts wrecked on the wild Bass Strait or the Drover’s Boy). They met in 1995 and formed a duo and life partnership which led to them winning the BBC 2 inaugural Horizon Award in 2000 and, twice, the Best Duo Award—in 2003 and again in 2011 (one of only two acts, along with Spiers and Boden, to receive this honour twice). Nancy won the Folk Singer of the Year Award in 2015. Together they have toured the world to huge acclaim. They no longer live on their canal boat near Bath but in Sheffield and having two small children are rarely able to tour together, apart from this year performing at a very few festivals This is a very special occasion especially for us you will not want to miss.
